Colorado is facing one of the worst droughts in years. Field after field of crops are either dead or sparse to say the least. In the midst of all this, there sits a field of sunflowers that is to die for! I went there with a photo buddy last night and we shot for hours. This is but one of a number of shots that I have yet to process.
Shot this with my nifty 50mm which was recommended by John M. ...thanks!
Thanks to Bill Bean for telling me about this spot.

A glorious sunset, and I really like the backlit flowers. You did a great job in controlling the exposure, too.
Really fine work here, Jack!

Both are very nice; it is the single flower image that really grabs me.
In #1, the color of the nice sky compliments the backlit flowers well. It appears like a GND was used and has affected the brightness of the rear flowers. The overall warmth is nice.

Doug, I was hand holding the GND on the sky and I may have come down a little too far into the field.

Grant Collier taught us a trick when you hand hold GND filters...oscillate it slightly up and down during your exposure to blur the line. Great shot never the less Jack

Those are great. I need to get out to the sunflower fields some time.
