Little owls are wimps!!!
Meet the real little Mr Nasty:wink:

Taken on my Crane trip this March. These sparrow size Pigmy Owls are fun.

I was staking out a Great Grey Owl in southern Sweeden when a local birder strarted wistling. When this failed an i phone and speaker appeared from his rucksack and withing a minute this fella was flying around followed by a mobbing gang of unhappy birds including a Great Spotted Woodpecker which must have been 3 times the size.

This photo was taken at mid day in bright sunshine meaning I had to wait until it had a tree behind it to get any good ish shots.

At one point it was sat within 1.5 meters of me glaring from a branch.

I was supprised to find that almost all the birders i met in Sweeden had a phone and speakers although all were a tad embarressed if othe people turned up

Comments very welcome

Ian

I think I need to try the speaker thing this winter, especially for peckers.

Great image, really showing his true coward nature ;) :toast:
