Assuming many of you have used KEH at one time or another and are on their email distribution. If so, have you been getting their recent emails and drive to send in your unused equipment for a quote and payment?

Has anyone done this and were you happy with the process and more importantly the value you received for the equipment sent it? I have a bunch of stuff I haven't used for years in my 35mm collection that wouldn't be compatible with a digital system (if I ever get one..) and I might as well try and get a few coins.

If anyone has any feedback or experience with this promotion I'd like to hear about it.

Thanks!

Lon, I have used KEH periodically for years and have never had thd least problem. Adorama too. If I have a lens no one here needs, I always get. Quote from both places. KEH has been a bit more about 80 percent of thd time. About a year ago I dug thru all my old boxes of unused photo junk got quotes for the whole thing anx put $300 toward a lens I needed. 2 old point and shoots, misc filters that fit nothing I had, 2 old speedlights, etc. Junk to me, but they wa Tex it. Incidentally, KEH's grading system is low. Used lenses have always been in better shape than they said- what they grade a "C" because of a scratch on the edge is. " B+" to me cuz I can barely fi d the scratch.
Go for it!

KEH is very reputable Lon. I've never sold anything to them, but I've bought a good bit from them. Very honest and easy to deal with. I bought a "bargain" Nikkor 28-70 a few years back, and I swear I couldn't tell it from new. Their "bargain" description is that lenses are perfect but there's wear and tear on the body. Zero wear and tear on the body I received. Good folks.

That said, you might be able to get more money selling your stuff on ebay since KEH will quote you lower since they have to add on a profit for themselves to resell.

When Minolta crashed I decided to switch to Canon. I sent a list of equipment to include 600 f/4 300 f2.8 and several scenic and miscellaneous lenses and equipment to numerous buyers including KEH. The reply's were timely etc. but I was not happy with the bottom line. Thank goodness the lenses fit the new Sony line and I placed everything on E-Bay. Sold it all and the bottom line was almost 50% higher than the highest offer I had by other companies.

One of the guy's form the local photog club recommended KEH at the last meeting. I logged on and got a quote for a Nikon 55-200mm VR lens. An entry level lens for sure but the most KEH would offer in like new condition was $50. I rather donate it that settle for that. I would guess the higher end gear might be more reasonable.

Thanks folks! Yeah, I've dealt with KEH and have found them reputable as well. Don - good point about selling items on eBay, which I may do for bigger ticket items. but I've also got a bunch of misc stuff like filters and such that I don't care spend the time and effort listing all that stuff. Perhaps I'll box up the little stuff and send it in. Then again, it will probably all still be in the cabinets years from now..... ;-)

I have bought a fair amount of things from KEH and found them very honest. When I tried to sell things a couple of times, I found they basically were offering me 50% of the eBay price. I now sell everything I don't need any more on either eBay or one of the photo buy & sell forums such as Fred Miranda.
