Lupines & Stream
These graceful Lupines and red Indian Paintbrush are growing next to a small stream flowing in a high meadow in the Mt. Adams Wilderness area in the Gifford Pinchot National Forest in Washington state. This meadow is tucked away just off of FR 2329 and close to both the Killen Creek Campground and the Killen Creek trail. I was about one to two weeks past prime for the Lupines but they were still lovely. I was a few miles back down the road two weeks prior but had turned around due to some snow drifts in the road. Hopefully the next season won't have the late spring snows that we had this year in the high country of southern Washington.

This image was a bit of a challenge with the closeness of the foreground foliage and the desire to keep the soft flow of the water in focus. I choose my wonderful tilt/shift Canon TSE-24mm lens which allows for a near/far approach similar to when I used view cameras.

Of course the mosquitoes were ravenous. It must have been feeding time! But the stillness and beauty of this intimate scene more than made up for some mad insects. I highly recommend going to places like this to either unwind or for me get the therapy I need for recovering from much to much poisonous and toxic chemo therapy the last four+ years!

Very nice intimate scene, Phil. The flowers look pretty good and the cyan tone to the wat is cooling, as I sit here poaching in the heat of my apt on a terribly hot day. The texture of the flow looks great. Agreed about getting out to the wilds for rest, relaxation, and detoxifying!
