Did not know if to post this or not but i am amazed the detail that can be obtained with a 300ml lens even in the hands of a novice,i know it won't be everybodies cup of tea but please tell me what you think.will post the rest at a later date.
Thanks for looking.

My cup (o'tea) runneth over. BIF - Great stuff. Only one thing missing for me is the third dimension. I'll get my coat :-);-)

Well it's different from the norm and what nice departure the close up detail is striking.

I presume it is quite a crop as the grain is very evident even on the small version, but the impact is utterly fantastic.
Hi Keith, good call on going for 'detail' on this one, nicely framed too.
I would agree that the BKG needs some NR applied to it, but only to that key area. Not knowing how far you can push this particular Nikon body, but certainly a bit more shutter speed would I think have helped. If you have added any black ie Contrast I would ease off, the image looks better with less, as the black looks a little clipped in the histogram. Applying some more rounds of USM only on the eye, crispins it up nicely too, optional/personal on reducing the blue highlight.
