Inspired by the Cloudman...(edited)
I had the opportunity to make some images of a storm front moving in from Engineer Pass. I kept thinking about how I need to thank Todd for letting me borrow some of his famous clouds.

One more...

Moody! I like it. The first one is my favorite but both are pretty cool. Had to be awesome to watch this in person.

Thanks, Bret -- It was really cool. I was pretty much frozen in fact  Because of the wind the clouds were really moving pretty fast (for clouds) and the scene was constantly changing. It was too windy and rainy to set up the tripod, so I was glad to have a lens with IS. I just jumped out of the 4runner, fired off a few shots and then ducked back in to wipe off the rain.

The second one is good, but the first is excellent. The lower clouds look green. I've never seen green clouds, except in hail clouds, so is something off in your processing?

The first has a lot of potential, but it really needs a Levels or Curves adjustment to look it's best (see your histogram).

Good call , John -- I did some tweaking as you suggested and this looks better to me. Morris the green you see is the grass/tundra showing through the clouds. Its pretty lush since its on the north side of the mountain.

Oh, that's much better, Paul! :toast:

Wow that is an awesome shot! The curves adjustment definitely gives it some nice pop. The green is really strange... in a good way!

Thanks, John -- great suggestion. Thanks, Jack! :toast:

Paul, What you did really improved the first. The clouds spilling over the top ar cool.
I am also liking the 2nd image. Possibly make similar adjustments and maybe crop off the bottom 1/4.

Why on Earth are the lower clouds bright green? I always neutralize them before I loan them out.

Thanks for the suggestion, Doug -- I'll have to play around with it some more. Todd, the green is just the grass showing through the clouds -- its a north facing slope, so it was really lush green. As opposed to my ex-wife who was just a lush, but I digress.

I played with it a bit -- I decided on not cropping, but I did make some adjustments.
