Dunno Dan, but if it comes down to a send-off, we've always had a very fast turnaround from Nikon repair. Just go to their site and follow the procedure. Slick.

Thanks for the quick reply, Hank. I was hoping to hear from you. However, if you don't know, I expect it's going to Nikon.

That error message shows when the aperture has not been set to the minimum (largest number). Just make sure that any lens with an aperture ring is set there (and the tiny aperture lock should be set to prevent it from shifting).
If the error message persists even with this confirmed then I'd send it off to Nikon for repair.

Thanks Richard. I thought it was that. However I tried it with two lenses that are are at the smallest aperture and locked there. I even unlocked the aperture ring, rotatedmit back and forth and re- locked it. Weird.
Dan, give the Nikon techs a call and see what they think. It probably will have to go in, but they might think of something that will easily fix it.
Sure sorry!

Sorry to hear about your camera. I have had to send in a lens for repair to Nikon this past year and although they did a great job with the repair, I have to warn you that they may change your estimate dramatically once they finally get into the camera. They gave me a preliminary estimate of about $500 for the initial look over and then when they opened it up it shot up to $1800, fortunately they have to get your approval first and you can always say no and they will send your damaged goods back for free. Unfortunately I couldn't use my insurance cause I bought it damaged, but I got it fixed and it works like new. Keep calling them to check on the status, it took them a awhile to give me the second estimate. If you have insurance check with them about paying for a rental while yours gets fixed. Borrowlenses.com is a great place to rent equipment! Good luck with your camera!

Good point. Even without the rental, it would be good to review your policy to learn if the repairs are covered, and what documentation might be required.

Thanks.
