Sorry guys I don't have a series of images to show you. When I find a subject I like to try and work it with a few different comps. A carry over from my 4x5 days. The vertical is posted on the landscape forum with a story behind the image if you're interested. I don't know how to provide a link but you can just click on my gallery page. This image has a slightly different color balance. Taken on an early foggy morning in Yellowstone a few weeks ago.
Curious to know your opinions. Thanks.

The dreaminess of the fog and the color is nice. I wish there was just a little more space under the trees. Between the two, my preference is for the vertical image with the mudcracks you posted in ESS.
I also prefer the vertical because of the mud. And, I agree with Doug about a little more room top and bottom on this one. If it's cropped, maybe put a little more back in, or if not cropped add a little canvas. Still, the mood, color, and whole dreamy feel is marvelous in this, Dean!

I really like it! My only nit is the small dirt area on the LLC. I realize that's nature and how it looked, but it's a tidbit distracting on an otherwise gorgeous scene.

I like the square crop and the different color balance, but the vertical image you posted earlier is so superb that this feels almost like an outtake. Still, an outtake that I would be thrilled to call my own!
I like this one a lot, Dean, it has a simplicity that the mudcrack version doesn't. Both are very strong images, but I feel like they say somewhat different things despite sharing the dead trees. The other shot speaks more of harsh conditions and death with the emphasis on the cracks and snags. But this one seems more about the fog and a sense of mystery. It's interesting to see them both!

The muted colors and "softness" of the landscape features work really well together, very nice work Dean.
