Demoiselle larva
Banded demoiselle larva from the river Severn
This is an imature one as the whole thing is about 1.75 cm long.
Demoiselle larvae easily ID'd by the long frontal apendages, and large banded gills.A couple of club tailed larvae found in the same session.
D7000
Nikor 40mm macro
Usual set up.
Cheers

Can't fault it, John. The blue sky BG makes for a great looking image and perfect for ID :toast:

Inspirational BG adds to a great 2D image. For 3D the BG would need to be in focus though, IMHO. I won't ask!!

I like the X shape the subject makes with the shoot behind it. I also like the detail on the subject. Very good indeed, John.

Thanks all.
At least there are a few bug lovers out there.
I don't think folks realise how difficult this stuff is to photograph, compared to birds for example.
Appreciate your interest.
