Hi Folks, lurker here from RMNP forum. I'm headed east for a 4 day weekend over Labor Day and will be visiting family in the Wichita area. I'm interested in doing some night sky photography with abandoned farm buildings as the foreground object. If anyone has a line on something like that around Rose Hill or out west near Cheney or Garden Plain I'd appreciate a heads up. Thanks in advance.

Sorry I can't be more helpful, Bill. I live about 35 miles north of Wichita and if it's a nice and clear night, the lights from the city aren't too much of a problem. But if there are clouds or haze, the sky is fairly bright in that direction. I'm not familier with any specific locations west of Wichita but my best advice would be to look around in the area to the west and south of Cheney. That's far enough away from Wichita that the lights shouldn't be too bad. Anything much closer to that is becoming pretty suburbanized as well. Also be aware that you will probably see lots of private porperty and keep out signs on most old farmsteads.
Good luck, and let us know if you find anything.

Thanks Ken. I'm hoping that one of my family members down that way will hook me up but you can never have too many sources. I appreciate your input.
