I have an opportunity to enter into an agreement with the owners of a soon to be built 700 acre mountain resort to document both the construction process and photograph the 300+ acres on the property that will remain undeveloped as "wilderness". This will be a 2 year project from start to finish and they want the landscape photographs to cover all seasons. The purpose of the photographs will be for marketing use and possibly a "coffee table" style book. The property is a 3-hour drive from my house.
Has anyone else had a similar long-term assignment? How do I price this? A flat fee? How to even begin to assign a value without really know how much time I will end up investing in the project? Any suggestions would be very helpful.
Sorry I can't offer any advice, but this sounds like a tremendous opportunity for you - hope you can find a meeting point, and you are paid well for this. Good luck!
Sandy
We've done similar work in the past and have more in the works, along with ongoing income from the past projects. We negotiate an hourly rate for shooting (plus expenses) as well as licensing fees (and contracts) for photos actually used by the clients. fotoQuote is your lifelong friend! Buy it and use it for comparable rates, and especially for negotiating help.
