Small heath
I managed to get out for a few hours to our local chalkland reserve a couple of days ago. I was pleased to find both adonis blue and silver spotted skipper doing well, especially after the spring and early summer we had. There were also plenty of these little guys about. I don't know why, but one of my favourite butterfly species for a very long time.

Looks like a freshly emerged specimen David as its in perfect condition. Larger image could do with a little more sharpening especially on the body/head area. Well shot Sir!

Great detail David. Grass slightly distracting but I guess that where they live

Great little chaps indeed.
They always seem to settle awkwardly for me.!
Nice one. Minor nit - maybe a tad too far left ? Others will see it differently of course.

Hi David, good detail where it counts, nice DOF. You could tone down the grasses a fraction, plus if you were able to have moved a little to the right then the antennae might not be touching one of the blades of grass, however this is all said with hindsight. Overall a pleasing image set in natural habitat.
