Great Egret Casmerodius albus
They don't show too often on the South Coast so a rare grab shot for me.

Canon 1D3 now fixed Canon 800mm 1/2000 sec ISO 800 f/5.6 RAW to PS5 fiddled with and saved to post re sized.

Struggled with the whites a bit. Distence to subject (SK) some way off.

Critique, Advice and Comments most welcome and appreciated, thanks for looking.

The whites are a little blown on the top and right hand side of the bird, but I think you have sufficient detail in the whites elsewhere to get away with it. A pleasing portrait of the species in natural habitat.

Nit aside this is a great habitat shot of a bird I have never seen Barry. Love the lily pad leaves!

Nice one, Barry. I've only ever seen one in the UK, so here is hoping another comes my way this year.

very hard with the whites with such a strong side light but i agree with david you have got away with it. Super shot of a very rare bird as bob says cracking foot position :toast: :toast: :toast:

Very nice indeed Barry. The composition is spot on, foreground is great. Perhaps the background is a little messy but then it does convey the birds natural environment so it works in that respect. Nit mentioned but it's not overly distracting for me. Nice one.

it looks like you've lost some detail in the feathers due to NR too Barry, but a nice pose and a great looking bird.

I agree with Matt about the feather detail, but still a nice and well composed image. :wavey:
