I was camping in the Stillwater Reservoir area of the Flat Tops over the weekend and for the record here's a point and shoot picture of a large patch of flowers at about 10,000 feet looking toward Flat Top mountain. This area has received a significant amount of moisture in July and August and the aspens are looking quite healthy and very green as of Saturday. I did see a couple of very small patches of yellow but the trees are still 99.99% deep green. This is true of the Steamboat area as well. So IMHO the fall colors might be a little early as everything else this year has been that way, but I wouldn't count on a significant change in the schedule.

Thanks Rod.

That is such great news for me!!! I have a work conference in Steamboat Oct 2-5 so we were going to be up around your area and were hoping to catch some color. I have been going through your book getting ideas of areas to head up to. JR will be out shooting during the weekdays while I am "working." I was going to send you a message to see if you will be in town around that time!

@anne: how did Big Sur turn out? I'd love to put together a RMNP group trip up to the Flat Tops. You in?
