Thanks to a good monsoon season here in AZ, the sunflower bloom has been pretty decent in the Flagstaff area. After a couple of scouting missions, I headed up there last night to photograph both sunset and sunrise. The sunset was a bit of a disappointment, but I did run into Doug K while out and about and shot the sunset with him. That's not surprising as I run into Doug seemingly wherever I go. That dude gets around!! Good to see ya again Doug!

While the conditions weren't really all that better in the morning (pretty much clear), at least I caught the first light on the San Francisco Peaks and found a nice flower-filled meadow to complete comp.

Love the blooms, where are these taken from if you don't mind me asking? I've been thinking of heading to bonito park for a shoot if the flowers are still around.

Peter, this was shot in the hills just north of Bonito Park. A majority of the blooms are getting pretty ragged so ya better get out there soon!

The sunflowers appear to be in better shape than where we were last night. Good seeing you and Doug S again.
How did you get the flowers to turn around and face you? <grin>

Beautiful photograph! Love everything about it. From foreground to the little cloud above the mountains!

Wow, that looks awesome! Seems like the AZ wildflowers go off when they do. Great shot.

As usual your image is beautiful. For me, it's either "log" or "no log." I love the different layers and it's crossed my mind that I may prefer the free flowing layers of this image without the log. I don't know, just a thought.

A very beautiful scene. I really like the light you captured a lot.

Around Flagstaff is like a different animal altogether in Arizona! Very nice field and light.

Yeah, absolutely beautiful! Lots of layers, and each seems to have it's own color emphasis. Very nice.

I'm in the "no log" camp. Foreground elements like that help jazz up a barren or boring foreground, but here, the foreground is amazing. I would either find a more subtle element to complement the flowers - some nicely clumped sage that I see around - or go without the log altogether.

Gorgeous Guy! Absolutely gorgeous. I am so envious. I love sunflowers and have been out shooting them. We have had nothing close to the fields you found up here in baked out Colorado.
