Sept 01 - Hug your vulture
September 01 (this coming Saturday) is International Vulture Appreciation Day. Seriously.
Vultures need love too :smile: and, besides, they serve a very important role.

Generally I see Vultures soaring, looking for roadkill, etc. or perched as in this photo, but when they're flying with wings flapping they are quite graceful.
Anyway, here's my contribution to Vulture Appreciation Day.

I had a whole flock flying low over the buttes at Cedar Canyon Wildlife Management area.

These are super!! Thanks for posting this Sandy - who would have guessed there was a Vulture Appreciation Day? I can't honestly say I've ever seen a vulture close to home, but we do have some turkey vultures across Alberta. This is the male Andean Condor from the Calgary Zoo
