Sometimes you get lucky
D7000 300mm f4 + TC14e ISO 400 1/400s at f8 handheld lay on stomach using elbows.

Another Mountain Hare shot from Sunday. When I saw this hare I thought it was dead as it was lay flat and unblinking but it was just playing doggo hoping I wouldn't see it. A careful and slow approach (the last few metres on my stomach) got me within 3m and it just stayed perfectly still. After 10 minutes or so it sat up, gave me a disdainful look, and ambled off up the hill. I always feel very privileged when a totally wild animal lets me get so close, even if it is just playing doggo! All C+C warmly welcomed.

That is a cracker Nick. The outline of the hare shows up really well against the stone. Pin sharp and great eye contact.

Nick

Well you've certainly got far more hare than we have down here. Your images are really top drawer. A pleasure to view.

It is always a priviledge is it not. Very worth the effort!

Like the low POV on this one Nick, think you could loose some off the LHS, just where the diagonal of the stone hits the grass. Sharp where it needs to be. You and Keith have certainly had Lady luck on you side, well done.

Great image, I like the mush in the foreground, and I like the wary look he is giving you.
