Moraine Lake
I'm almost done editing the photos from my Canadian Rockies trip and I have image to share from a well known location. Seeing images of this place is what first inspired me to visit the national parks in the Rocky Mountains of Canada.

When I got to Moraine lake for sunrise I was so excited I practically ran up the trail to the viewpoint. The view was overwhelming and I wasn't paying attention to my footing, resulting in a smashed knee and blood gushing down my leg. This evoked stares and offers of first aid from the few other photogs up there, but I said no, I'm getting the shot, I'll deal with it when I'm done. I found the perfect spot, got the shot, and a souvenir to remember my visit ;)

Have you ever been so absorbed in a scene you forgot about your immediate surroundings?

Awesome shot...love the color of that water! Glad you stayed and captured this and that your knee is ok. I was with you when you twisted your ankle last year..you are one stubborn guy when it comes to injuries

Nice capture. One of the most scenic spots I've ever stood upon. Ran into fellow RMNP'er Rich V at this spot back in 2007. Sorry to hear about the crash but images like this seem to take away some of the pains suffered in getting the shot.

This is one I would love to have in my portfolio, Jason. Sweet color and light, and a fine comp, too.

Love the color of the water. I think it would make me fall in love with the Canadian Rockies also. Great stuff Jason.

Nice to see green trees (instead of those killed by beetle).

Stellar work, Jason! One of the rare times where I feel that clouds would not have been an asset.

Beautiful scene, understandable how it can be so distracting! The peaks may benefit from a little more sharpening for web presentation, but that's a pretty small nit considering the overall pleasing nature of this photo.

Beautiful view with the glacial milk and golden light on the peaks. Possibly lighten the upper left mountain? Hopefully your knee is doing well now.
