A recent visit to Thursley NNR in a high wind found little about other than a few lizards, but we did eventually come across this black darter, which sat happily on the broadwalk and allowed a very close approach.
Thanks for looking.

Nice and sharp for a 1/40th on a windy day, David. The pale wooden boards help show off the dragonfly very well, my only nits are the two bright spots to the right of the image, I think they might have to go, but no big deal.

Cracking shot David and I like the grain of the wood which almost looks like sand on a beach apart from the big knot of course. Small darters are always hard to get close to and you made a great job with this one. Agree with Andy re the two white spots but easily sorted if you want to remove them.

come back to this a few times, at first was not sure of the "perch" but the more i look at it i think it works really well, as has been said the detail is cracking
Nit covered David. It's a pity about the knot as, without it the background would be almost an abstract and I feel would work even better. Nice one anyway.
