The Last Supper ?
Just before the sun finally faded this afternoon our white Buddleia was a mass of mainly Peacocks. This was taken out of my office window at 2:30 ish. Certainly a good advert for the "Butterfly" bush.Notice the well worn S.Washed Fritt. at the bottom. There's just nothing else much for them to feed on at the moment. This pic is for interest more than photographic excelence so I don't expect more than 1 comment at the most

TFS JR....we have had a very poor year for Peacocks, Red Admirals and Small Tortoiseshells this year and my Buddleia has been pretty vacant all summer. I realise its for interest but the flying Peacock on the right of the picture with is proboscis extended really makes the image IMHO.

I have a purple one in my garden which is usually full of butterflies. Unfortunately this year there weren't many around. Nice image, thanks for sharing. :wavey:

Good to see a range of Nymphalid species on a single bush. Small tortoiseshells vanished from our area a couple of years back, and the other Nymphalid species are down as well, with the exception of red admirals. However, browns and blues both seem to be doing well. They will recover though, I saw two small tortoiseshells down at Deal last week, so there is some sign of a recovery. In the meanwhile, it is nice to remember what a buddleia looks like in a typical year.

Never seen this many Peacocks on one bush in a very long time, here in west yorkshire, butterfly numbers seem to be well down compared to last year. Great to see the Silver Washed Fritt too, John.
