I'm posting this one for help with the ID rather than than for critique as it is a massive crop from the original. This little guy was in a mixed flock of dunlin, curlew sandpiper and little stints. It does not quite look like the illustrations of any of them in my book, although little stint is nearest based on beak shape. Is anyone able to confirm ID please?

Looks like a Sanderling molting from summer to winter plumage. What sort of size are we talking about in relation to the Little Stint?

Ah! That's something I didn't think of. The flood is freshwater, but only a short distance inland and it was high tide. As for comparative size, the only birds it stayed really close to were a small flock of ringed plovers and it was certainly smaller than them, and smaller than the dunlin. the other species I mentioned were a little further away, so size comparisons were difficult.
Good suggestion, Andy, thank you.

Does look like a sanderling, but in brown. I think Andy has it!
