Trying something a little different with a common subject.

It is a bit different, and I think it might work better if the top quarter of the picture were darkened to fully black. I find those horizontal lines a bit distracting.

Sorry Rob, but it doesn't work for me , mainly due to the head position I am sure others will love it..

Needs a head turn for me.

I don't mind the swan's pose and I do like the idea behind this image, but I'm less keen on the sharp distinction between the water the the black background. It looks to me like the swan is about to sail over a waterfall but that may be just me
Hi Rob, you handled the contrast between the whites & blacks very well, lovely detail within the plumage. If it was me, I might just go for a solid black BKG without the hints of areas within the OP. Obviously having the subject moving away from you is not ideal, however I like the idea Matt sowed, so I guess the swan is for me, sailing into the dark unknown & beyond.

I've been looking at this for a day or so now, Robert, and it has grown on me, I like the swimming away pose but I have to agree about the top of the image, I think David is right as it would certainly look better if it was totally black.
