Laceleaf Maple
We're enjoying some very nice late summer weather in the PNW right now, but it won't be long before fall color will be the big attraction for photographers. Last autumn, I took this photo of a Laceleaf Maple in the Japanese Garden at Bloedel Reserve on Bainbridge Island. It's been one of my most popular images, and I'm happy to share that it just won the Gold award in the Natural Scenic category in the Society of American Travel Writers annual photo contest. Congratulations! Well-deserved I must say; that's a treat to the eyes. The form of the twisted branches is magical.

Gorgeous tree and a gorgeous image. Congratulations, Greg. I haven't been to Bloedel in ages. It's a really neat place.

Hearty congrats, Greg! It's a beauty-- both the tree and the image. The light is gorgeous,as it defines the mossy architecture of the tree and the lovely color of the leaves. Well done!
