On Sentry
:wavey:

Cheers for the feedback on Rannock Moor, I know the tree is now gone so would love to get my shot of it looking good and your ideas and observations really help.

One from the Mara and my ongoing resorting quest.

Topes and Wildebeests group together and you will often see a Tope on a termite mound for a better vantage point to spot predators.

As ever all C&C welcomed

I think you mean topi, Phil. A tope is a type of small shark, and one on sentry duty in the Mara would be a very unusual shot!

Great behavioural shot though.

Hi Phil can't really comment too much without the techs, however, as is, I do feel that the BKG is too smooth, have you applied NR to it, as there is a very clean division between FG & BG objects even at f/5.6. I think also there could be more detail, clarity & sharpness within the Topi which you could extract, and upping the ISO with the D3 would, I don't think, have been an issue, giving you more SS. If you had the option, moving more to the left I feel would have given you a better comp, with more space for the Topi to look into, rather than on the RHS. It's nice to see prey using the mounds for surveying the horizon, rather than Cheetahs & Lions.

Nice behaviour shot. BG no problem.

Very nice image Phil. Nice comp and pose. I can see where Steve is coming from though, possibly NR is a little OTT, and there looks to be some more detail to be had in the Topi. Would like to see the techs too. Otherwise, a minor nit for a photo I'd love to have to my name! Nice one. :toast: :toast: :toast:

Different image Phil, don't see many of these up in bonny Scotland. Looks fine to me as is.

The Tope looks good sat on it's lookout mound, slight nit covered, but no big deal.

Composition looks good but the subject looks a touch soft.

:wavey: i will be less dramatic in the BG/FG divide next time, cheers. Robert your are right it is a touch soft, the pre sharpened is really bad, so i have never really done anythng with it but i like the scene and i thought i would share :wavey: :toast: :toast: :toast:

Techs & comp aside it is a classic topi behviour shot. The mound looks moist as if you had rain?
