Oh dear, Adobe. What have you done to the crop tool? I found a few tutorials on it that help, but, wow, that is a very radical change to something I have to use often.

While I do the vast majority of cropping in Lightroom (which works much like the new version of the crop tool in CS6), I like the way it works. If you don't like it, just click on the gear in the tool bar when the crop tool is selected, and select "Use Classic Mode" and it will revert to the old behavior.

"Use Classic Mode" reverts one trivial feature (as far as I can tell). I upgraded because Camera Raw 7.0 is great, but I'm almost tempted to use CR 7 and open in CS5.

All I can say, Pete, is that I and the folks I work with deal with lots of advanced software, and it's almost universal that someone will hate every new feature that comes along, especially if it seems like a major change. I can also say that it's nearly universal that they wind up liking the change, or at least being fine with it, if they just get past the griping and try using it and learning it for a while.
When I read the comments on the link provided by Sandy, I was initially dismayed, but then I read David's post above, and figured that this whole deal is simply the human aversion to change.
I am going to upgrade to CS6 before the end of the year because there features that I will find very useful, and I like the new interface design a lot. I'm sure I'll find some quirks that I'll need to overcome, the cropping tool being one of them, but I'll get over it.

I'm not sure that is possible.
I guess what I'm saying is... give it a chance.

I agree with David--give it a chance.
