I finally had time to developing two chosen images from our Labor Day North Rim meeting at Locust Point. This first is a blend of two images for exposure. I tried using the finger over the sun to eliminate most of the flare spots. Let me know if you see any points of concern on the blend or have suggestions. I would have liked just a little more on the right side for the sun, but the 16-35mm on the D90 was a wide as she goes.

Gorgeous photos Doug. You had a great day! Just a couple of suggestions but not totally necessary. I would reduce some of the magenta in the far cliffs in the first image and maybe some noise reduction in the second image but that might mess up the light shafts. Really diggin' that first image. Great work!

That first one is nice with the sunstar. The blend looks good here. I don't think I was fortunate to get anything worthwhile from locust point (sunset wise), but on my monitor the images look a bit noisy and the greens in the first appear "muddy". Perhaps web compression? The light this evening was playing a lot of tricks that's for sure, can't wait to see the rest.

Thanks Dean and Peter. I went back the edited tiffs and applied a noise filter.

Sweet light and comp on that first one. Love the layers in the second as well. Wish I could've made it!

You captured a real fine sunset here, Doug. I especially like how the angle of the sun placement seems to align with the canyon in the foreground. Blend looks terrific to my eye. No nits there.
The larger version looks much better on my monitor.
And the rays of light look great!
You guys sure did have some epic conditions there. I can't believe that I did not go...
