Our little pocket just east of the Black Hills in Washington tends to create harsher weather than elsewhere in the area. Tuesday, September 11th was our first frost. Fun stuff with daytime temps still in the 80's. This was taken at a small DNR preserve between Hwy 99 and the railroad tracks a few miles east of here.
Nice clean bg to highlight the tips of fern with the frost. There’s definitely a change in the air. Dunno if I'm ready to look for my fleece yet, but I admit to being ready for some color in the woods again with everything so dry lately.

Ah, the harbingers begin to appear. Fall is not far away!! The details in the larger version are a must see.
