Sylamore Creek
I had to be in the Batesville area yesterday morning for some herb shots, but afterwards, put the pedal to the metal toward one of my favorite places - the Sylamore Creek area. I saw some color starting to develop in the understory, and the overall condition of the forest looked very healthy. It was one of those rainy damp days with no wind - it felt great to be outdoors. I found a group of wildflowers growing in the middle of the creek that I thought was interesting. They look like mist flowers, but I don't think that is the correct ID. I've also posted a larger image with more detail.

Well, as expected, jpeg compression has made this much more contrasty than the original...

Here's a closer view view of a different group of flowers, which is more contrasty too.

Nice set of images, Bill. I especially like the quiet mood of that first image. And those greens...boy oh boy.

Looks like a great place to spend some time with waders on and camera in hand. Great colors in the second image especially. Thanks for sharing.

NIce images Bill, sorry I have not commented been gone 10 days. Fall colors could come early based on what I am seeing here. It may be like 2009 when we had an early fall?
