You are doing very well with that new D2X Tim .
The only nit with this one is the broken branch on the left hand side , other than that it is one beautiful picture. :toast:

interesting photo Tim. I'd agree with taking out the broken branch. Is this fullframe? I'd go for even more free space above the bird, maybe another 50% and a rectangular frame and slice a third of the greenery away from the bottom of the picture. This would give more space for the song to travel. Also would then sit more comfortably with the rule of thirds.

A different style of image for a very common sight. I think this works really well and love the grad. bg colours and contrast with the fresh greens of the leaves and pink hues of the bird. The open bill brings a great spark of life as well. :toast:

superb tim. must admit i thought it was as cold as buggery when i first got back home but a few mornings of the dawn corus made me realise how lucky we are to live in such a beautiful country as this. nothing makes me feel as relaxed as listening to these little chaps belting it out at 5 am.

this picture really sums it up well. love the tonal background.

Hi Tim

I like this a lot. Great composition, fantastic colours and tones, and the chaffinch is perfectly caught singing his heart out. Attractive and engaging image and an excellent example that you don't need to fill the frame all the time to create great nature images.
