GreyHen in Frost Laden Heather
This was one of the first shots of the morning at about 5.00am. It was a bit of a 'hit and hope' as the light was in the pre-dawn stage - i.e. I could see the bird but the camera had to be manually focused. The Hen was moving very slowly between the heather and once in a clump was still - so I look my chances

1/3 of second @ 800asa @ F2.8
Manual Focus, Eval+2/3
300mm/Tpod/hide
Full width,Levels, USM(150,0.2,1)*3, a bit of colour balance to get rid of the heavy blue cast to a lighter blue pre-dawn cast.

Beautiful, absolutely beautiful. Now that would look great on the wall! Well done, Tom. Pano crop works superbly.

Hi Tom

Superb shot. :toast:

The pano format works well and the colours are great, the blue tones in the frosty heather work a treat and provide an excellent contrast to the hen.

Technically excellent too and one of the best examples of low-light nature photography I have seen. A good demonstration that you should never give up because of 'bad light'.

Well done, great work.

cheers
