So I don't post all my grand canyon images in the landscape gallery, I figured I would ask for input on what you all would prefer color wise on this particular image. The first is the color version with all the gold hues. A few had already seen this image and gave me suggestions so I reworked the image a bit.

Here is my b&w version

And John Mumaw did a conversion to help me out a bit as well (a much better one than mine)

I like the detail brought out in that final image, but personally I prefer the color version.

Not sure if you tweaked the color photo from the first time I saw it, but I gotta agree with Erik this time.
The last version does make for a very impressive b&w interpretation, though. No reason you can't keep 'em both!

Thanks guys
John, that green color cast that was in the original I removed so there should be primarily gold hues throughout the image. I was still having difficulty trying to bring out the foreground because it was quite underexposed to really brighten up and look good. I like both versions as well, but trying to aim for a particular one to print.

Peter, my preference is for the color version, and then your version of the B&W with the loss of distant detail as it seems to put more emphasis on the descending light and lower canyon.

Color version for sure....In the color version you posted, what I find most effective is the dark foreground blending on out to the merely suggested formations in the back end of the print...

Thanks Doug and Joe, I'm leaning towards the color version myself, but always good to hear opinions on such. Will likely get a colored version printed up sometime.

I would certainly keep both but my preference is toward the color version. If you could bring out as much detail in the top third as in John's conversion it would be an outstanding color image.

No question, the golden light is outrageous. Color wins, great image!

Nice capture Peter: I like the color shot best of the 3 and and last B&W with the greater detail in the background. I think the color would be an even stronger image if you could pull in some of the background detail similar to the second B&W conversion. Thanks for sharing.

The color stands out way ahead for me. Great image!

I'm preferential to monochromatics that are not purely B&W. So yep, the color version is for me too.
That was a phenomenal set of non-traditional sunsets we found

Thanks everyone for the suggestions and opinions. I appreciate them all.
Karl, we sure had a wide range of beautiful light over that weekend.
