Nope, not a horse... its a Gannet and a Gull.
I just found this way back in the files. It almost looks as if the gull is going into cloud but as it is shot at 80mm (albeit on a cropped sensor)I'm at a bit of a loss as to what is occurring. It was taken from the back of a boat but I cannot recall any engine smoke and neither are there any other images in the set that have the same look

Hi Robert
Could it be sun/ light glare ? If the birds were moving pretty fast it follows that it could be on just the one frame.
Interesting stuff. Iam sure others will have ideas.
Cheers

Engine smoke was the first thing that occurred to me - the front of the gull seems less distinct than the back. However, if, as you say, there was no engine smoke I am at a loss to explain it as well.

Bloke next to you breathing on your lens? Makes for a more interesting shot though.

The gull does look as though its going into the cloud and it makes the gannet really stand out. 80mm lens.....either its a big crop or you must have been pretty close to that gannet!
