Bridge settings

I've been editing in photoshop CS5 Bridge for a long time. After my computor crashed sometime back, I've been facing two problems with Bridge:
1. The 'DELETE' button doesn't delete the image, but it highlighter shifts to the next image.
2. When I open the image at 100%, it takes very long to open it, more than 5-6 seconds.
I was just wondering if I messed up some settings. My computor is an old one Core 2 duo with 4 GB Ram.

Or if you use any other software to view and edit the images.
Thank you so much for all your help.

Have you tried reinstalling Bridge? I've had to do so with other programs after a major crash.

I would suggest Lightroom4.1 ( or previous versions) to import and edit. Here is a link to a good method ~~

Hi Jagdeep,

Sounds like two things are going on: one is your preferences needing a reset, and your cache to be rebuilt.

First, press and hold the Ctrl key (Windows) or the Option key (Mac OS) and then start up Bridge. You'll get 3 options: Reset Settings, purge your Thumbnail cache and reset Standard workspaces. I suggest you check all three and hit OK. That should clear any weirdness. However, you'll now have an empty cache, which means that when you open Bridge and navigate to a folder of images, Bridge will need to recreate the thumbnails for each image and, you guessed it, store them in the cache folder. That will take some time and each folder you visit will cause Bridge to recreate the thumbnails. On your Core 2 Duo it'll be a little sluggish. In fact, I'm thinking that's what Bridge has been doing since your crash.

BTW, do you have a second internal drive? If you do, by all means put your cache on a different hard drive, that alone can boost performance. You make those adjustments in Edit->Preferences. But if not, just give Bridge time to rebuild.

If it turns out that the weird delete issue doesn't fix itself with the reset, then a reinstall may be in order. Hope that helps!
