Hi All,
I am new to this forum after being a member of the Northern California Group for a couple of years. I just moved to Sequim, WA where I will retire from over 25 years in the Coast Guard. I am an aspiring, yet humble, photographer and want to take my skills to the next level. I cannot imagine a more beautiful place to do that than in the Pacific Northwest. I am looking for friends and mentors to learn from and share my love of the outdoors and how to capture the essence of its special beauty. I look forward to learning from this forum, any workshops held in the area and getting together with anyone who may visiting the Olympics.
Sincerely,
Chris Tadlock

Hi Chris! Welcome to the Pacific Northwest!
An excellent way to meet some of the PNWNP photographers is to join the group for the fall color shoot in a couple weeks. See the info at the top of the PNWNP forum list. Unfortunately I am not able to go so I hope to meet you at another time.

Hi Chris and welcome. I'm pretty close to you, between Bremerton and Shelton, about an hour and a half away. These are great people in here, and even though its tough to make outings with them because of my work schedule, they do have some outings around this area also. Maybe one weekend we can get out. I for one love the hamma hamma, Jefferson creek area on the eastern slopes of the Olympics, probably because they are close for me.
Sounds great. My favorite area is the Cedar Lake and Greywolf basin areas. I did get some wonderful sunsets about 15+ years ago from high up on the Blue Glacier on Mount Olympus. The Fuji slide film I was using captured some absolutely stunning colors. I hope to replicate it sometime with my digital camera although I fret at hauling my 5D Mark II and lens 20+ miles to the same sight.
Oh, I will be in Leavenworth, WA from October 21 through November 22 going through a wilderness EMT course so if anyone can recommend some good subjects for me to cut my teeth on , I would certainly appreciate it. I should have a little free time in the evenings and the weekends.
Welcome Chris! If you're going to be in Leavenworth at that time, you should run into some nice color. Anywhere along Rte 2 between Leavenworth and Stevens pass should provide some great color opportunities. Nason Creek and Tumwater Canyon can be especially nice. There are also great swaths of colorful vine maple on the mountainsides at Stevens Pass. This shot is from last October.
Welcome, Chris! Great to have you! Sequim is a wonderful area, as you know, where photo ops abound. Will look forward to your posts, questions, outings reports, and hopefully, crossing paths with you soon. Our outing to Trout Lake near Mt. Adams should be fun; hope you can join us. In addition to Joe's advice about Leavenworth sites, Icicle Creek/Canyon should be good; right outside Leavenworth. Heading west on Hwy 2 out of Leavenworth, turn left at the last stoplight in town and go exploring! Good luck on your EMT training and have fun!
Wonderful picture Joe. Is there usually frost in October/November? I guess I had better pack warmer clothes for the out
door drills.

Welcome Chris! Glad to have you in the PNW.
In my humble opinion, we have some of the best eye candy in the USA, so you should have lots of fodder for your camera. It looks like your EMT course will keep you from joining us at Trout Lake? If so, hopefully you can join with a future get together.
