I should probably post this over on the equipment forum but they tend to go down lots of irrelevant rabbit holes and I respect the information gleaned on this forum.
I love my trusty old 40D but have come to the realization that it pretty much sucks for night sky shooting. So I'm in the market for another body. I'd like to get a 7D or 5DII but I'm cash strapped right now. I've read some good reviews on the T4i and since it's half the price of a 7D it's in my price range.

Anyone out there have experience with this camera or know anyone that does?

Thanks in advance.

Another mea culpa for the mods: If this needs to go to the equipment forum go ahead.

Bill, I have the T2i as a back up for my 5D. If I have done my homework correctly, it uses the same sensor as the 7D and the T4i. It is a decent light weight camera that makes a nice image. I have not done night shots with it, but it does get a little noisy at higher ISOs.

Bill, my only reservation with the Rebels (I had an XSi that I've sold) was the different ergonomics compared to the xxDs and 5Ds. I don't know if this still holds true for the T4i, but I urge you to check it out. It was a hassle having to use two different processes to set a manual exposure between my 5D2 and the XSi.
