Dear all,
I have been looking for some entries in the forums related to video with DSLR cameras, as well as timelapses. I didn’t find so much. Nowadays, several cameras permits taking HD video and it seems that there is a growing interest in the market. The interest of the different stock agencies by video seems to confirm this trend.
We, as photographers, have an interesting chance to increase our opportunities, since; most of us have already cameras that can record video. This will certainly replace the border between photographers and videographers and, sooner or later, we will need to learn about video. Additionally, there is also a growing interest by timelapses done with series of pictures. It is clear that there is a lot to learn in this respect; new techniques, specific gear, file formats, software, etc… I really think that it would be nice to have a specific forum related to that, if there is enough interest, of course.
I have started with timelapses more than one year ago. I am using, also, After effects and Premiere; but there is a lot to learn in this field. I still have to update my website with some timelapses; I do not know where I am going to find the time!!!!
What do you think? Are you really interested in video and timelapses? Do you think that it is worthwhile to propose a specific forum on that or do you think that this is outside the scope of NPN?
Regards

I've been playing around a bit with time lapses and would definately be interested in having a video/time lapse forum. The stuff I have done so far is pretty limited due to my limited knowledge on the subject. If you're interested they can be viewed on my YouTube page at TheToniaGraves.

Dear Tonia,
I have seen some of your timelapses in Youtube. They are really very nice. You are doing a great job.
I was expecting much more interest in this issue, but it seems that this topic is not relevant under this community, since, after more than one week, there is just your reply. So let’s forget about it…

Joana, I enjoyed your time lapses very much. They are probably not in the scope of my efforts in more traditional stills, but I can see them filling a niche or as a larger part of our photography future. I am surprized folks didn't express more interest, but I really like what you are doing.

There was an earlier discussion here about videos on NPN. It was in this forum, but I can't seem to locate it.

Also, since I have only two brain cells remaining, and one of them is showing smoke, I do not recall the result of that discussion.

Hi Preston,
I tried to look for topics related to video or timelapses without success and this sounds strange to me. I am new in this forum and I expected that this topic was already in the forum. May be I didn't use the right keyword for the search. I really think that the importance of this topic will increase in a near future and, as Roger said, I am also surprized of the poor interest.
Thanks for your replies
Joana

There was a long discussion on whether NPN should start including video and timelapse and they final agreement was no. With dedicated sites like Vimeo, it just wasn't worth the effort, especially for Jim. It would take a complete website redesign.

The Timescapes Forum can answer every question related to DSLR timelapse and the Vimeo Slow-motion Timelapse channel is world class.

Thanks a lot Carl for your comments. I tried to find discussions in the forum related to that without success. I understand the reasons behind.
