Firstly, thanks for the previous comments & feedback.
Not much to say on this one, had to go for this 'tightish' crop as there was some distracting bits to the RHS and I liked the head angle with the body set again, for once, a rich blue sky. Kept the mush, as all I wanted was the focus on the subject. ALL done in camera, no PS was applied

Hi Stephen, this is right up my street. I think Puffins lend themselves perfectly to this kind of image. I love FG 'mush' with these endearing birds! A thumbs up from me!

Paul.

Hi Steve
I can't decide on the "mush" or whatever as I don't normally go for it, but as the shot was taken vertically but I would have put the head to the right a tad. Colours seem a little intense -the background seems to compete in my view, but still an appealing shot. Just my humble opinion viewed on cheap gear.

Like the mush and the fantastic detail. Almost looks to 'punchy' to me, I did not know anything in this country was that blue. however as this is directly from the camera I am very impressed, what was the in-camera colour set at?
Faithfull Ian, unless you choose to shoot JPEG, as any 'Picture Styles' are pointless, I then use a mid grey (or anything close to 50,50,50 point) to set the WB in RAW. On a rare, sunny day it's amazing what you can achieve here. I just wish the shot was taken with the 1DX as I find the colours rarely need to be tinkered with.
cheers

Well no one can accuse it of being a subtly toned image that's for sure - Jeeze!!!
The blacks on the nape of the neck average 25R, 27G and 36B and the whites at the top of the chest average 221,223,231 to 180,190,208 - even the green mush has got 64+ blue in it - 50/50/50 neutral my eye!
Nice portrait for sure, ticks all the boxes for me - but the processing is blue and too "in yer face" if you ask me; but there again you didn't!
Oh Andy, I see you have got a new job as a bean counter with all those numbers.
It start off right then. Serious Andy didn't add any blue, just added a slight hint of Black/Neutral to the BKG, grass as is, likewise the blacks as shot.
25R, 27G and 36B yep you can see that and I knew it was there, but here you go...

Detail as always on your posts is superb Steve. I'd agree with Nick re the colours but for me I find myself wanting a touch more canvas to the left. Mind you that would make it more square which probably wouldn't work for me anyway so truthfully I cannot really make up my mind

Thank you very much indeed Craig
Although not to everyone's taste, I think the bold colours work well, as does the strong composition.
