A snipe shot from earlier in the year. The light was great but it didn't want to sit on that beautifully weathered post not more than 5 meters away. I suppose its good that its on a different perch though.
There a few more snaps from my trip back in June on my website diary for anyone that's interested.
Ian they don't always choose the perch that you would like but as you say you got some super light, that BG really sets off this very nice image with the light just catching the front of the bird.
Keith.
Certainly different Ian and I like it. The gate angle gives/offers a strong diagonal for the image and as Keith say, it's a killer BKG. My only wish is to see it bigger and to be able to appreciate the subject.
Being really picky, but a slight crop off the RHS to lose the black mark in the BKG just above the bar would be good, cleaner, but no deal breaker.
Was this with Danny?

You could lose a little off. The top answer as well, but personally I would leave the glorious colours in that background well alone.

Lovely light, really makes the picture, where is a gnarled old tree stump when you need one

The perch isn't an issue for me, the super Snipe and quality light more than make the shot.
