Hi, folks;

I'm about to replace my aging Epson P2200 printer and could use some help. I'd like to stay with Epson, and am considering a Stylus Pro 3880. Based on the specs,I think that the 3880 would be more than adequate for my needs (printing for personal use and occasional gifts to friends), but am a little concerned about nozzle clogs due to infrequent use. After a long period without use (1-2 months), my P2200 would sometimes show breaks in the nozzle check patterns, but could always be cleared. Could I expect at least a similar performance from the 3880? Also, does anyone have experience with the ink consumption of the 3880 compared to the P2200? Your advice and/or opinions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Hi Rita

I have had my Pro 3880 for nearly 2 years now, having changed from a 2880 purely for ink cost savings. I was changing a full set of ink about every month and a half with the 2880,3880 first cartridge was changed after 14 months. Over here in the UK the ink cartridges for the 3880 work out at about half the price per litre than any of the A3 printers.

Mine gets used mainly for printing Club competition entries and exhibition prints, so not week in week out, not had any problems so far with any of the nozzles clogging.

By far the best performing printer i have ever owned and works a treat every time.

Hope this helps

Ian

I had a 2200. Great printer, but nothing like the 3880. I've had mine for a couple of years. Very little issue with any clogging. Ink costs per milliliter of ink are much less. Mine is used in spurts. I will print heavily for a week, then it might sit for a month. Never any issues with clogging and I live in a VERY dry climate.

Thank you Keith and Ian. I feel much more confident in choosing the 3880. I'm going to go for it!
