Oregonian Out of Her Element
I just got back from a 10 day trip to Utah and Northern Arizona, and although I typically shoot Oregon and share in the PNW forum, I thought I share a few here and see what y'all think.

I had never been to the SW before, and I can hardly wait to go back. The best stuff I got, I think, was at Bryce, and here is the first I'll share: taken from the rim near the cabins a bit after sunrise:

Canon 7d, Sigma at 18mm, f/13, 1/60, ISO 200 (was still in sunrise mode)

Welcome. Very nice.

The SW is indeed a magical area. As is the PNW. Looks like you were favored with some nice skies and good light.

The clouds really make this scene work, great comp as well!

The clouds really make this scene and using the foreground trees as an anchor creates a wonderful comp!

Thanks, everyone. I should have said this was below the rim (obviously). It was maybe 100 yards below sunset point, ironically one of the better places to catch the sunrise, IMHO.

I like your comp with the small foreground trees. With those clouds, I hope sunrise was great for you.

The sunrise was lovely to see, but difficult to shoot. I lost all some foreground detail and didn't know the place well enough to locate a foreground subject.

but....

I did get fun one with the morning star the next day:

I like the first photo because I rarely see trees used as a foreground here. Good choice!

Thanks, John, and all.
