Can anyone recommend a shutter release device for a Canon 5D Mark2 that will allow more than three exposure bracketed shots? Wired or wireless. I looked at the Promote Control but the setup for each shot is too cumbersome. Thanks!!

I shot the 5DII for years & have not found one that will adjust the bracketing for you that's convenient. I can say that the 5DIII allows for 7 shots in a bracket & works great.

Tony,

I got tired of shooting manual exposure brakets and took the plunge and installed Magic Lantern firmware on my 5d mkii. Sad that Canon chose to handicap firmware to shoot only 3-shot brackets.

All went well and exposure bracketing is convenient and works great. I consider exposure bracketing for HDR as my "killer app" for Magic Lantern.

I sm still in my first week of trial usage, so we will see how things hold up.

Mike.

In the 4 years of using a 5D2 I got pretty good at spinning the wheel and firing off the shutter on a 2-sec lockup, lol! It's all in the index finger... seriously, I think Magic lantern's solution is the only way if it works, because I don't believe the remote shutter jack with its 4 pins allows programming for changes to shutter speed, only allows firing the shutter. Hopefully I'm wrong!

Magic Lantern definitely works. I have been using it to shoot HDRs for a few weeks with no problems. I have no trouble disabling it and reverting to normal Canon Behavior.

Using ML is a big step as you load custom firmware on each memory card. For me, it is scary but worth it. Shooting 5 or 7-shot brackets is now a dream.

It's really sad that Canon will not upgrade 5D2 to enable this feature for standard firmware.
