I am not familiar with 'Glacier'. I am a little leery of cloud 'anything' at this point in time; especially storage of critical files. I don't know how true it is today, but in the past some on-line storage companies would go belly-up, taking your data with them.
There is also the speed question. One needs a pretty peppy broadband connection for the sake of efficiency.

Like Preston, I'm leery of cloud storage. Look at what happened to MegaUpload. Granted, that site was commonly used for pirating movies and music but it also had legitimate users. When it was shutdown and the servers seized, the legitimate users lost their all data too. Given today's atmosphere of corporate mergers and buyouts, even major cloud storage providers could be here today and gone tomorrow. What happens to your data? What happens to the rates you're paying?
I think cloud storage is a nice solution when you need to share data among multiple computers at multiple locations. Other than that, it's a solution looking for a problem.
My "cloud" is drawers and drawers of DVDs and portable drives. I simply can't afford the risks others have cited.
On the down side, we just cleared out our studio after over 20 years in business. My wife's "cloud" is decorating our living room at the moment, waiting for us to conceive a better place for it. That's 8 file cabinets chock full of film, CDs and DVDs from past sales.
Gotta be a better solution for the bulk, but as sure as I am that it's not cloud storage for us, I'm also unsure of any better alternative.

I haven't tried it, but Crashplan looks pretty good. Here's a blog post from Puget Systems about it.
I hope this helps.
