Twin Falls near Richland Creek
No autumn would be complete without a trip to Twin Falls. This is a shot from October 14th, after the area got a little over two inches of rain the night before. I waited around for several hours for a few clouds to roll in, while hoping for calm winds. I was surprised that I didn't see anyone the entire day.

Bill you caught this just right! Even with the two inches of rain I am surprised to see that much water! Your effort paid off nicely!

Which way did you hike in?

Thanks, Tom. I had been watching the radar and water levels for several weeks, and noticed a small red/orange blob on the radar over the Richland Creek drainage somewhere around the 6th of October. It received quite a bit of rain that most places did not, and brought the level up 8 or 9 inches. It has been the ONLY large drainage that has had any water to speak of for awhile now.

I hiked in from the cemetery, and was impressed with the amount of color that early. Probably the best I have seen there in several years. On the downside, it seems to have gone quickly. :frown:

This is beautiful Bill. I've not been to this place before but the flow does look really good for autumn. Thanks for sharing.

Bill, you really did catch it just right! I checked the Richland Creek gauge and it peaked at just under 3 feet around 10am on Sunday morning October 14th. This is the highest reading on the creek since late March of this year. Hopefully we will not have to wait this long for more rain!

At first I thought this was from a past autumn. You took a big chance with that long hike, but it sure paid off. Very pleasing to look at, and I admire your stamina!

It looks loke you had great conditions and you took advantage of it. I've got to get there some time.

Great shot and it sounds like a very good day to be in the field.

Thanks to all for your nice comments. Twin Falls is one of those special places where all you have to do is point your camera and shoot. Well, a few clouds always helps too... :wavey:
