3rd from Bryce
Here is my third and final shot from the visit to Bryce. This was taken at sunrise just below the rim. Is it too dark? What additional processing would you all suggest?

Like the comp!

If it were me, I'd do some spot work with NIK Vivesa or PS - bring up the tree, add some structure to the sky/wall.

I am picking up a bit of oof on the rock walls and maybe tree, so perhaps a bit of sharpening/unsharp mask (or is it just export sharpening not being set?)

Just noticed the handrails on the right edge. Perhaps crop it all sides proportionally.

Lots to work with. I dont see very many interesting photos from Bryce. This one interests me. Nice!

Thanks, Karl. I took a shot at Viveza (hadn't used it in a while) and worked especially on the tree and structure. I don't use PSE unless I'm changing skies or moving planets around, so I did what I could in LR and Viveza. Let me know what you think. Regarding the handrail, that's so funny. There is a rock wall there too, which I did crop out...never even saw the handrail!!!!

I have LR output sharpening set to screen/high, but I'm getting feedback on sharpness a lot these days, so I may need to tweak my routine there. I used to use Sharpener Pro, but the noise and then noise reduction made it a zero sum game in my mind.

Duh....here's the re-touched image!

Might be a tad strong but lets see what others think.

On cropping, I would also take some from the bottom and left - about the same as was done on the right and top - to rebalance the comp.

I like Vivesa over PS for these kind of things. But Vivesa costs $$$ so the option is there :)

Thanks, Karl. I'll see what others think. My tendency is to under process first and then overcompensate when tweaks are suggested ;-).

Other folks? Any suggestions???

Marylynne, from your repost, I like Karls crop suggestion. You might also see if a local contrast via 15/50/0 USM is to your liking, along with reducing highlights and lightening shadows about 5pts each (I am using PSE). I really like the aspen glowing against the cliff.

I like the revision, but would take a little off the left edge, as Karl suggested.

Here is the final edit I'll show. Thanks a ton for all the feedback. I'm open to more, but I won't bother y'all with the results here.

Well, it's been interesting to watch the evolution of this image. You nailed it with the last one! Love the luminosity of the tree, and that slender hoodoo spire that I thought was obtrusive at first is now well defined. Nice work!
And of course, your suggestions for others' work here is greatly appreciated.

The last repost is the best of them all. The glowing light on the tree is excellent here. A unique image from a popular area. Love it!

Thanks, Soubhik and Chikku. I was very conscious of being near icons on this trip, so I wanted to do more than shoot the usual perspectives.

3rd version's the winner. Definitely a beautiful comp.

In general I am not a fan of images from Bryce but this is a real winner.
