Strutting his stuff
Pheasant

This bird has been around for the past two years which is no mean feat for a pheasant around here.! Taken from the car window in the front garden.
I am up at this late hour preparing talks for the coming month at a late time when I seem to be able to concentrate more. With this crap weather I can lay abed in the morning and dream of woundrous things, like buying some wonderful gear and I might even think of planning a major photo trip to somewhere exotic – like Slimbridge for example. I must start saving for the petrol and entrance fee, !!
Seriously I don’t need any new gear- I am thinking about a 100 mm macro which my son has and seems pretty good .
Any way- I digress-

D7000
Sigma 100-300mm f4 –hand held.
ISO800 F7 200th sec
About full frame. Usual Paint Shop Pro embellishments.
Levels/CZM/ image guru
Thanks for your interest in my last post.

Gorgeous detail on the pheasant (biggie a must) and all that greenery acts as a perfect BG for the colourful bird and the pose is the icing on the cake. If you want somewhere exotic then try up here JR and by the sounds of it our weather is better than yours! No nits from me.

Reminds me of a former boss, must be the cheeks. Great detail on the old fella.

Great looking Pheasant shot, John. I like the striding pose and agree with Nick re the colours of the bird.

Looks tasy JR. Have you done any blur on the background vegetation behind and to the right of bird? It looks more oof than the lhs and yet appears to be more or less on the same plane of focus.

Thanks all
Appreciated  Hope the other 850 enjoyed it
Does look odd Rob now that you mention it. I went out and had a look and its the slope of the track outside the house. The grass as far as I can see comes forward very quickly in front of the teasel. All I can think of.Maybe its the size of the Teazel which creates the illusion. I would have bluurred the grass as well come to think of it:smile:
Cheers
