does anyone know of a decent point and shoot that continually autofocuses in movie mode ? I just want something small to keep in backpack for this purpose.

Hi Jack - I don't know too much about P&S video, but I just tried to take some video with both of my P&S cameras, and they both seemed to autofocus in video mode. Granted, on my P&S cameras it's still very slow. If I focus on something far away, and then quickly point the camera at nearby text, it takes a good 1-2 seconds before it re-focuses.
Are you sure there are many P&S's that don't autofocus in video mode?
I know DSLR and mirroless cameras don't all do it, but with large sensors and their type of AF, I'm guessing it's much harder to do. Remember, on a small sensor P&S, the DOF is really big so autofocus can be done easier.
