The fall maples of West fork supplied some sweetness this past weekend. While many areas were past prime, there were still many colored maples to be enjoyed. The trail was well-traveled with other hikers as this hike is one of the more popular in Arizona, especially during fall colors.
Here are a few from the day, and I have placed others in a separate website gallery. West Fork Fall Gallery

#4 Some leaves that Peter, Bob and Chikku left behind.

I really like that second shot for some reason, I can't pinpoint why it just appeals to me. At first I couldn't believe that was a pool of leaves. I thought it was on the trail, but then I noticed that is far too wide to be the trail. Sorry for leaving the mess, I'll be sure to sweep those leaves up next time :)

Very nice, especially the impressive carpet of leaves in #4
It's great seeing the different interpretations from your group.

Doug, both the 1st & 2nd images are just beautiful. I think it would've been very interesting to see the result if you had had a 17 or 24mm TS/E lens to get closer to the leaves in the immediate foreground of #4.

Doug- like them all but, especially #4- Good eye!!
Very nice collection, and #4 is my fav of the group, too.

Thanks for the comments.
Howard, I did splay the tripod to drop the camera lower to get as close as I could to the near leaves, but my initial thought was that the perspective on the pool was lost. I'll try to process and post that blend today for comparison.

Here is the lower perspective of the beaver pond covered with leaves. This was as low as I could get the camera, resting atop the dam. Blend of two images for dof.

Stunning.

First post is the best. followed closely by 3...
I love the comp in 4, but the light looks harsh, makes it look a bit flat/muddy. Nice stuff tho.

Stan, thanks for the muddy comment. I went back to the file and a bump in contrast helps.

What a gorgeous series, Doug. I like all of them quite a bit, but #'s 1 & 2 really grab me!
I like the extra room in the repost of #4, but the back canyon wall still strikes me as off a tad. Perhaps it was darkened a bit too much? I'd like to see your latest revision with the contrast bump and see if it helped in that regard.
Still, you really did some fine work on this day.
