Wild Splits
Merced River Canyon, Mariposa County, California, April 2005.
This photograph was made last spring during a day hike along the Merced River (between the town of Mariposa and Yosemite NP). The rocks shown here are considered to be the oldest in the Sierra.
Pentax 67ii, 200mm, Fuji Velvia 100F.
I got the chrome drum-scanned a couple of months ago and am currently working on getting it ready for printing. Your thoughts are appreciated.
Just quickly looking at this Anil, I really like the rock formations, the lighting and texture on them is great. They feel very sharp and jagged as well as heavy.
I think I'd show just about half as much grass as is shown here, or possible only a quarter. Call me crazy but that seems to strengthen the comp even more, at least to these eyes. This is a great study in texture, geometrical and organic shapes, contrast, and asymetrical rhythem. Good eye for this kind of intimate study.
