A good shot of the snipe, Keith, but I would have preferred a little more space below the bird and a bit less above since, as presented, the bird is looking out of the photo.
Thanks Bob now i look closely at the points you have picked out i must say i agree with you think i let the nice pose of the bird and the bg sway me and maybe forgot the basics
This is what i come on here for to be told what people think..

Agree with the nits but I would love to get one of these instead of great tits :(
Hi Keith, you seem to be very lucky in capturing skittish animals in close proximity.
For me, the head angle dictates the position in frame and therefore echoes David's comment about more space below, in fact I might have pushed the bird really high in the frame and more to the right, so the diagonal is towards the bottom LH corner. Selective sharpening would help, but really only along the bill, eye and partly the head, IMHO. Watch the eye doesn't go too dark/black. You could also extract some more detail from within the whites.

Thanks Steve but i could not get the bird any higher in the frame because i have nothing left at the bottom of the image to work on ,i did think of working a bit more on the birds head but in all honesty i does not look to bad to me
ps i only have it as a jpeg.

Keith the nits have been said so I won't go through them, for me I really like the compositon the pose works for me too.I might have taken a bit off the RHS but no big drama. Keep up the good work, great to see you enjoying your work so much all the best

Nits covered, but still a stonking bird and one that is very difficult to get close to, so congrats on that aspect, Keith.
