Wahweap Hoodoos
Last week I spent 6 days being a tour guide for a friend that wanted to see some of the sights around Page along with Bryce and Zion before moving to Wash. DC. My friend was more interested in hiking and sleeping in so we didn't catch too many sunrises (except at Bryce) and I wasn't able to take too many pictures but I did manage a few. The first couple are from the Wahweap Hoodoos, shot mid-day,not great color or light so I did B&W conversions on both. I'll post a few from North Coyote Buttes later. Any comments or critiques would be appreciated.

I love the rich textures in both shots, particuilarly the top one. A couple of small (or very small) potential issues: are those contrails in the sky over the tower in the first shot, particularly on the far left side? They have that look, which is a bit of a detraction, in my view. In the bottom shot, I think we're seeing a small crevice in the cliff behind the summit of the tower, but it almost looks like a little tree or bush growing out of the summit. It might have been a one-percent improvement if you could have positioned yourself so that crack and the summit didn't merge. As I said, these are quibbles. I like both shots quite a bit.

I think both are excellent. I like your comp technique in #2 positioning the shaded hoodoo in the background cliff's lit section. Nice conversions as well.

hmm, yeah the old contrails aint helpin any in #1. I like #2, with a slight bottom crop. He who sleeps in, misses the worm...or something like that...
